Such a relatable reflection. My oldest daughter has started watching me do my nightly routine and this has really given me pause. She's beginning to look at herself in the mirror more and I hope I'm teaching her how to do that with kindness and light-heartedness.

This is such a good point. I feel the same when my little girl watches me do my makeup and she asks, “Why do you use that?” I want her to know makeup can be fun, but it is NOT what makes a woman truly beautiful!

❤️❤️ I’m glad you’re here. And yes—aging gracefully is something that is so beautiful, and yet when it comes down to it, phew—it takes courage!

What an embodied practice these words can be Deidre for loving ourselves well as we love others. How we speak to ourselves really matters and this shows the depth of that. I would say that you absolutely already are a hospitable woman as well as a younger woman who has a soul that really cares for so many people!

One of my friends said it is the search for perfection that we had in the garden. So in a sense it is natural longing to stay youthful but the struggle is balancing it with appreciating the season you are in. I have always believed in facial creams, oils, serums as they are nice for our skin. I am using Limelife by Alcone's oils and serums at present and my favorite for lips and handcrafted and not expensive Egyptian Magica all purpose cream. I think happiness though is tge bedt skin remedy.

This is great! I got suckered into a wrinkle killing cream and spent way too much $ on it, and have regretted it ever since. Something about 50 year class reunions make wrinkles even more noticeable. 😂

Gosh, that marketing is always spot-on, isn't it?! But the pressure of a 50-year class reunion sounds like enough to make anyone cave! I hope you don't beat yourself up TOO much for that pricey cream!

Love this- I just ordered cream last night for my chin and sagging skin that is bothering me- and can so relate! Aging is hard in so many ways - Love your perspective here and the words you have written! It has resonated much with me! Thank you!

I’m SO glad it resonated. And yes, it is hard. There is a tension between being grateful for the years that we’ve been given and grieving, in a way, what changes along the way. (Ps let me know how that cream works 😉 I’m trying Froya Organics myself.)

Deidre! This has been so on my mind as well—could it be the age of 33? This is everything I’d like to say myself on the topic!

I'm so glad it resonated—and so glad I'm not alone in these thoughts 😅. It's GOT to be 33.
