Crisp and clear! What Alicia said. This is how I ended up on Substack. I had all of these words written here and there and everywhere but never did anything with them. And I was pondering, what good does it do if we keep it all in? Thank you for sharing your life giving words.
I started out chuckling at the memories of renting movies and singing show tunes. Then I cried at the grief that was so pervasive when Anne was diagnosed and too quickly succumbed. Your words and the epiphany you had when you read "The Word was God". Your essay is like a balm Deidre, thoughtful and comforting, and so very personal. Keep sharing your words with us.♥️
Beautiful! Words make me feel alive when the world wars to take me down! I've been rereading Joy Clarkson's “Aggressively Happy” and pondering this same thing. A small section that sums it up, “To focus on the brokenness and wickedness of the world puts at the center of our moral world not justice, kindness, and truth, but injustice, suffering, and incredulity. Jack Gilbert puts it bluntly: “To make injustice the only measure of our attention is to praise the Devil.” “ Thanks for putting beauty out there Deidre!
I feel like I was just taken on a journey as I watched your video. I was drawn in and captivated. I will be thinking about this the rest of the day if not the rest of the week. Thank you for sharing❤
Deidre your writing is so crisp and clear. This is beautiful.
Alicia, thank you! ❤️

Bethany, thank you so much. Transcendence—what a dreamy word. I love that. Thank you.

Thank you, Mom. My favorite part to write was definitely about the Movie Gallery with you and Rach!

Oh, I have not read this book, and it sounds wonderful. [adding to my massive TBR list now!!]
Thank you for your thoughtful comment that made me stop and ponder today.
I just showed my high schoolers that clip from Dead Poets Society last week!
It should DEFINITELY be required for all humans.
